PREVIOUS INFORMATION

Kinlochleven

April, 28th and 29th, 2006

Information and pictures: Cortesy of Javier Cruz

5 Members of TRIALMADRID (there are 18 Spaniards that will be attending) are going to participate in the 2006 edition of the 2 Days Scottish Trial PRE 65. One of the them is the legendary Mick Andrews, member number 143 of TRIALMADRID, and the winner of 10 Scottish Trial ( 5 Six days and 5 two days Pre 65). Besides Mick, the other TRIALMADRID members that will be participating are  Carlos Casas, Alfonso Sánchez-Eguibar, Mauricio de los Casares y Javier Cruz.

One of the outstanding news for this edition is that Mick Andrews will be participating on a Douglas, as he already announced last year after winning his 5th Scottish Pre- 65. Now, and before anyone else, we can enjoy his first pictures in our TRIALMADRID website.

The myth riding the myth. Mick wants this way to pay a tribute to this brand in its 100th anniversary, and therefore he is going to participate in this 2006 edition of the Scottish 2 Days Trial Pre 65 riding a precious Douglas 1948, bycilindrical boxer, 170 kg (374 Lb) and without shocks!!!!

This motorcycle is one out of the 9 that exist like it in the whole world and its value is beyond any price. The owner is Clive Dopson, General Director of Lotus Cars. Clive estimates that Mick will need 7 pairs of spark plugs every day to be able to finish.

Here we have some pictures of the motorcycle and Mick riding it

Boxer engine. The width of this motorcycle is more or less like two James put together.

In this picture we can notice that the motorcycle has no any shocks

Mauricio de los Casares Bergström, member Nº 50 of TRIALMADRID participates with a very special motorcycle as well. It is a Triumph Cup that won the Scottish Six Days Trial in 1959 ridden by Roy Peplow.

This picture belongs to that edition in 1953, in which Roy Peplow won the six days. Now, Mauricio de los Casares of TRIALMADRID will make this motorcycle work again in Scotland. This is a great responsibility since Roy Peplow will be there to watch his motorcycle in action  again after 47 years!!!

Javier Cruz, member Nº 94 of TRIALMADRID, will defend the honor riding a James ex Mick Andrews, an excellent competitive machine. We hope he does great. Good luck!!!!

And another one waiting in the Pipeline Section

Alfonso Sánchez-Eguibar, member Nº 120 of TRIALMADRID will be showing his abilities riding this classic and beautiful BSA. A lot of luck!!!!

And last, Carlos Casas, member Nº 41 of TRIALMADRID will also participate in this edition, although we do not know the details yet. We will try to get in touch with him tomorrow to add some more information about him. It is important to notice that last year he almost won (finally it was Mick Andrews, the myth who took the victory).

And a Terrot

From here we send our best wishes for our 5 members. We know they will be trying their best in this trial, unique in the world and essence of the specialty. Good luck to all. We all feel jealous, in a good sense, of you.
